Focusing on the early years of learning advising in Aotearoa New Zealand, including at Southern Institute of Technology, Jerry Hoffman traces its evolution from low-status beginnings in the 1990s to a more professional, research-informed, and institutionally embedded role, highlighting key milestones, challenges, and the growing credibility provided by the professional organisation of ATLAANZ (along with TLCANZ, a body that existed earlier than ATLAANZ).
