Author Guidelines
Preparing your paper
Please prepare your paper according to the following outline:
- Electronic format Word 2003 or above
- No more than 4000 words (excluding references)
- Times New Roman 12pt font with no more than three levels of headings
- Margins (left/right and top/bottom) of 3 cm
- Pages numbered bottom centre
- Justified text
- 1.5 spacing
- Two spaces after full stop, before beginning next sentence
- Spelling: Learning Advisor
Each paper will include an abstract, introduction and conclusion.
Referencing
- APA Referencing (6th Edition please)
- Use hanging indent, NOT tabs or spacebar. To use hanging indent, select text, hold down Ctrl key and press the T key (or format, paragraph, indentation, special, hanging)
- Space between each reference (enter)
Please Note: The following information is detailed. It may be helpful to look at the last copy of the proceedings to see the formatting.
Tables
- Font inside – Times New Roman, font 12
- Table # - No italics – title is in italics eg. Table 1. Distribution of referees’ recommendations by category (1 space after full stop after number 1)
- Left aligned
- Situated above the table, 1 line between table and title
Figures
- Figure # - Italics, title not italics eg. Figure 1. Sample feedback to student (1 space after full stop after number 1)
- Centred
- Situated below actual figure, 1 line between figure and title

Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is 1.5 spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
- If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
